The Treehouse Hotel

Due to Australia’s topsy turvy geographical positioning, Christmas time here comes with a side of heatwave and sunburn. For those yearning the traditional appeal of a chilly Christmas with a log fire, roast and wine, Secret Foodies had the next best thing. Our first Christmas in July event brought guests to The Treehouse Hotel in North Sydney, a warm cosy hideaway with a real fireplace and wholesome food. Bonbons were cracked open and the colourful flimsy tissue paper crowns were worn with pride. Christmas decorations and live music brought out the festive atmosphere, reminiscent of those lively Christmas dinners with the extended family.
Dinner was kicked off with a glass of Chandon on arrival, followed by canapés. Four whole suckling pigs were brought out and carved deftly by chef David Maisey, and platters of tender succulent roasted meat and gloriously crunchy crackling soon brought to our tables. Hallelujah. Sides of beans, buttered carrots, fries and boats of apple sauce and gravy were passed around the long communal tables as wine flowed freely into our glasses. Dessert was delicious as was the espresso martini. Foodies stayed back after plates were cleared, chatting away long into the night like old friends. The Christmas spirit was live in us all.

Great locatiOn & fantastic food! Excellent value for money. Would be great to have more events on the north side!
Wow – amazing gluten free meal – great company and awesome food!
Can’t wait for next event!
Fantastic pork! Great sides. Fab dessert and vino
Wonderful suckling pig(let), very cute espresso martinis, cozy fireplace and great service!
Great food-loved the suckling pig!
Christmas in July at the Treehouse in nth syd was a festive affair with great food and drinks. From the champagne on arrival to the suckling pig for main and the espresso martini as a precursor to dessert was delightful and tasty.
Starting from cocktail pitcher (we had Bubble’o'Blizzard with cider, mint and rubarb) to tender meat, amazing butter carrots and delicious desserts (nothing beats a warm chocolate pudding with fresh strawberries!!!) – the dinner was absolutely delightful
Great atmosphere, festive to an xmas tree!! Food kept coming with excellent scallops for fingerfood. All porked up with christmas cheer and crackling and all topped up with espresso martinis.
Such a great concept and I wasn’t disappointed. The crackling was perfect, the carrots – devine, the chips unexpected but devoured nonetheless. The wine flowed and the coffee martini with kisch straw and brown paper bag, a lovely subtle touch. When dessert came around I didn’t think I could eat it let alone finish it but yum, so glad I did. It was difficult to judge my favourite, the chocolate self serving pud or the wonderful fig tart. I leave content. Good will and peace to all!
Great atmosphere for Christmas in July! The suckling pig was cooked perfect!
Simple, wholesome food done right. As everyone above else has mentioned, the crackling was devine and full of flavor, and the meat was oh-so-tender.
Would have been nice to have been treated to a plate each rather than communal dining, just to avoid the awkwardness of who’s going to finish the last carrot.
Highlight of the meal for both me and Simon were the desserts. The pastry for the pie was light, crunch and delectable. I’m not a espresso/martini fan myself, but Simon named the coffee martini the best espresso he’s had in Sydney.
Lovely decorations and atmosphere, but less-than-average food. Only had four bites of suckling pig, and spent the rest of the night chewing on carrots, beans and french fries. Very uninspiring. Certainly not the standard of food I’d been expecting.
Food was fantastic, company was brilliant and the waiter was hot.
Top night.
