Secret Foodies ventured to Rosebery recently to discover a hidden foodie gem known as The Clubhouse. Guests were sent a secret password prior to the event and told to look for the side door with the mask on it. On arrival they walked the red carpet, whispered the password (we'd tell you but we'd need to kill you) and made their way downstairs to a sunken bunker type bar full of antique furniture and vintage photos. We enjoyed a cocktail here before making our way upstairs to the restaurant section of this new eatery.
Guests took their seats in the beautiful open-plan restaurant complete with a long bar and open plan kitchen. We all had the perfect vantage point to watch Head Chef Rafael Tonon and his team in action as they calmly created our ‘Back to Basics’ feast.
The back-to-basics theme confused a few guests at the beginning when they looked down at the setting before them and realised that something was missing. Three things in fact. No knife, no fork and no plate. A large banana leaf and plenty of napkins sat there instead. The meal itself was designed to share, a family-oriented style feast with people helping themselves and then passing the food along. And did we mention that there were nine courses? The meal was complemented to perfection with cocktails throughout the evening including a coffee cocktail to finish.
