With not a camel or belly dancer in site Embers Mezze Bar defies not only traditional stereotypes of the Middle East but its cuisine. Ex-Rockpool Head Chef Simon Zalloua takes his fine dining culinary techniques and pairs them with the warmth and flavour of his ethnic background. Forget everything you think you know about Lebanese food, there is no tabouleh or meat skewers here, rather a sophistication and finesse that comes with a schooling at one of Sydney's best restaurants.
The building itself has had recent restaurants come and go but was once a bank. Now heritage listed, a high ceiling and darkly lit surrounds makes Embers Mezze Bar the perfect place for an intimate dinner or playful night with a group of friends.
Owner Henri Azzi is one of those inspiring young people who gave up a corporate career in advertising to follow his dreams of opening a restaurant. With a young, vibrant and friendly team under his wing, fantastic food and a unique wine list of local and Lebanese wines Embers Mezze Bar is on a winning formula.
Embers Mezze Bar is one of my favourite new restaurants, do yourself a favour and check it out. Trust me, these pictures don’t even do the food justice but will get you salivating….
