For our very first Brisbane event Secret Foodies hosted a special cocktail degustation at waterfront restaurant, Madame Wu.

Romantic by-gone Shanghai-nights mood met with clever cocktail mixology and matched mod-Asian fare for our ‘Secret Cocktail Degustation’ at Madame Wu’s!

Wooed by the Bond-style pre-event text ‘let the Madame Wu you’ excited Brisbane foodies navigated their way riverside for the first ever Brisbane Secret Foodies surprise, pop-up dinner party.

Excited foodies arrived single, in pairs or groups and eyed the ‘Pagoda Punch’ watermelon cocktail aperitif as names were checked off at the door; a tribe-only club of food connoisseurs tempted by mystery, making memories and of course Madame Wu.
What a gorgeous location! Story Bridge lights sparkled, splayed purple-glow hue, adding bling to the black and gold signature Secret Foodies masks.
Martini glasses clinked, celebrations started as the social-dining chatter kicked off with a smoked ocean trout salad paired with a ‘Madame Wu Martini’ of sake, Tanqueray No. 10 Gin, elderflower liqueur and Lime juice. Yum!
Cocktail inspired food and pairing continued with the Chinese-whisper (everyone was talking about them!) Steamed Duck Bun and Morton Bay Bug Sandwich. Double yum!
A couple more cocktails down (‘Bonsai’ – a gorgeous Ciroc coconut vodka and Paraiso lychee liqueur, plus ‘Zenji’ – a Ketel One vodka, Midori, Grand Marnier, OJ and mango creation) and food-to-die-for Tea Salted Duck and Wagyu Brisket prepared tastebuds for the dessert finale of a steamed chocolate bun and cocktail of banana and toffee liqueur with fairy floss!
Adrian, Madame Wu’s GM and Chef Jerry shared stories of food inspiration, the art of cocktail and food pairing and the nostalgia of home-style and comfort-food cooking.

Celebrating World Class Cocktail Week and Secret Foodies first Brisbane event with sponsor Diageo was a huge success.
