It was a battle of culinary proportions. North vs South…Italy style. Secret Foodies hosted a surprise dinner at new restaurant Parma in Surry Hills. We set Head Chef Alessandro Vinci-Cannava and his team the task of preparing a degustation of dishes signature to different regions of Italy. It was then over to our foodies to pick their favourite food, northern or southern style.
Parma opened earlier this year, centrally located on the corner of Crown and Campbell St, Surry Hills. Split over two levels the restaurant has a relaxed and casual atmosphere. Mismatched cushions are scattered along the communal bench seating and large open windows invite customers to enter for a light snack and drink at the bar, delicious lunch or a long dinner with friends.
The service is fantastic with most of the staff being Italian and passionate about sharing knowledge from their home land. Manager Ricardo could spend hours talking to you about the different regions of Italy and popular dishes from each.
We had a beautiful evening and at the end of the night a show of hands proved that on this occasion, South was the winner from this meal.
