As Vivid Light Festival hit Sydney once more and brightened up our night skies, we thought what a better way to celebrate than with a Secret Foodies event. Darling Harbor was bursting with energy and excitement as people strolled the streets to see what they had in store for this years festival. Through the hustle and bustle of the crowd a group of foodies got together and were greeted with champagne on arrival at the Citibank Pop Up Bar.
Guests got to watch the Vivid Aquatique show where they were in awe of a water theatre performance combined with a 20-meter wall of colorful lights. They were then escorted to the Meat and Wine Co for dinner with a view. We started with a tasting plate to share, which included Szechuan Calamari and Nam Jim sauce, Bruschetta, Louisiana Chicken Wings, and Portuguese Prawns served with Brown Rice Pilaf and Red Capsicum.
The atmosphere in the room was lively and active as everyone chatted away waiting for the mains to arrive. The mains were served alternatively with the option either a 300g Monte Select New Yorker (Grain-fed 120 days) or a 350g Monte Select Rib-Eye (Grain-fed 120 days) served with crunchy chips. There was also a Half Rack of Beef or Lamb Ribs which were slow cooked in barbeque sauce and served with crunchy chips, Marinated Chicken Skewers which were flamed grilled in sumac spices and served with brown rice pilaf with cabbage and onion or Tasmanian Salmon Cajun Crusted Skewers served with a lemon and sweet chili sauce and brown rice pilaf.
To satisfy our sweet tooth a selection of individual desserts came out including Warm Chocolate and Pistachio Fondant, Peach Melba, Vanilla Crème Brulee, Cardamom Yoghurt Panna Cotta and Vanilla Bean Ice-Cream.
The night started to wind down and the streets of Darling Harbor were becoming less crowded. Guests left knowing they had just experienced a spectacular night of colorful lights and delicious food.
