Our most ambitious pop-up event yet was Dia de los Muertos, a Day of the Dead themed party we threw in St Peters. Our guests had no idea what to expect after following the directions in their secret text message, found themselves in a random warehouse lot.
After turning the corner, there were greeted with music from a live mariachi band, Mexican decorations everywhere, marquees, face painting, a bar and giant Mexican food truck. White Umbrella Marquees lent us the warehouse lot in St Peters, and also provided maquees for shelter from windy night.
We had our partners Al Carbón, who are Sydney’s newest food truck on the road, on board. Their truck was parked and set up outside, serving legit Mexican street food all night. There were tacos filled with various meats from the open-flame grill and fresh toppings ands condiments, soft and cheesy quesadillas, chargrilled chicken wings with a delicious fiery sauce and tangy pickled vegetables. The pop-up bar provided the social lubrication, with Coronas, margaritas, homemade sangria and of course, tequila. With food, drinks, costumes, music and dancing, we partied late into the night.
