On Wednesday April 17th in the heart of Sydney’s CBD, Secret Foodies guest were treated to an unforgettable night at The Sanderson and Eau de Vie.

On arrival guests were welcomed downstairs at Eau de Vie, an intimate, dimly lit, jazz infused speakeasy where the night began with refreshing Monkey 47 suze cocktails, featuring notes of honey jasmine green tea cordial and soda.

Following welcome drinks, guests headed upstairs to The Sanderson, a luxury space to enjoy the heart of the evening. A toast in true Sanderson style marked the official start of the dinner, setting the stage for a menu that showcased the very best of land and sea. The indulgence commenced with “The Sanderson snack plate,” a assortment of flavours. Moreton bay bug offered a taste of the ocean alongside a stuffed chicken wing, playful profiterole “carbonara,” and the luxurious touch of truffled prawn toast.

For mains, a shared O’Connor grass-fed rib eye, MBS 3, took centre stage. Accompanied by white onion, a rich three-pepper sauce, and fragrant rosemary, the dish was a carnivore’s dream.

Complementing the main course were a selection of shared sides. Potato rosti with a touch of saltbush added a comforting earthiness, while the white kimchi salad with ginger vinaigrette provided a piquant counterpoint. Garlic mushrooms, adorned with hazelnut romesco and pangrattato, offered a burst of savoury.

As the meal drew to a close, the spotlight shifted to sweet finales. The “Popcorn x popcorn x popcorn” was a highlight, featuring vanilla cake, green apple, and brown butter with the “Medjool sticky date pudding” a very close contender, boasting notes of guinness, crème fraiche, and whisky butterscotch.

Throughout the evening, a selection of wines from favourite producers complemented each course. From the Croser NV of South Australia to the Grant Burge Pearl Chardonnay of Western Australia, the Mud House Central Otago Pinot Noir from New Zealand, and finally the St Hallett Faith Barossa Shiraz of South Australia, the pairings elevated the dining experience to new heights.
