While you may not be able to wander far and wide you can take your tastebuds on vacation!

We snuck in one last event for 2020, an intimate lunch where we invited 45 foodies to join us in celebrating the end of the year and some of the best flavours from around the globe.

The venue was revealed to guests via text message two hours before as Jackalberry Sydney. Jackalberry (the name of an African tree) is a celebration of discovery and adventure. Located in a heritage building inside the Hyatt Regency it is the perfect hideaway, where the beauty and diversity of our world is reflected in globally inspired dishes, drinks and décor.

At 1pm eager foodies made their way through the botanical interior and were greeted with a Kaldi fizz, a welcome aperitif made from Cascara (the shell of coffee beans) cordial and house prosecco. The cocktail was inspired by a goat herder named Kaldi who inspired coffee in Africa.

The afternoon was spent sampling unique bites and flavours from around the world from never-ending grazing tables all the while sipping on free-flowing wines.

Starting with a trip to the Mediterranean with a mix of cured and air-dried meats, imported salami, marinated vegetables, house-made dips, relishes, pickles and an array of breads, lavish, grissini, fruit loafs to accompany.

Guests then moved on to small sandwich bites such as smoked salmon and honey mustard on pretzel bread or chicken spinach and hummus pittas.

The dessert spread was that of every dessert lovers’ dream. It included traditional English scones and jam, Australian lamingtons, Italian Tiramisu, as well as modern bites such as chocolate and macadamia nut lollipops and kiwi fruit tarts.

With full bellies, our guests certainly took a culinary journey around the globe and toasted to the end of what can only be described as a unique year.
