Enter a Parisian-style garden oasis with fresh flowers, flowing wine, delicious canapés.
Over the course of a sunny weekend, the Secret Foodies team celebrated the peak of the summer season with a lavish hidden garden party. Guests were lured to a Parisian-style garden oasis at Café Parterre.
Only recently opening its doors in August 2017, Café Parterre have been feeding a hungry breakfast and lunch crowd at their eatery, situated heart of leafy Woollahra. Enter the cast iron gates and you’ll find a lavish array of fresh flowers and vines broadly encasing a striking French glasshouse. Make your way through the sandstone laced courtyard and you’ll discover a scattering of olive and citrus trees, French-inspired furnishings and oodles of charm.
For the event, guests were sent the secret location via SMS at exactly 12pm, instructing them to meet at Café Partarre. A vibrant balloon garland greeted them at venue’s entrance, along with inviting glasses of Days of Rosé wine. Secret Foodies guests were the first to try this new rosé wine, set to hit the Australian market days after the event.
With a glass of wine in hand, everyone then got the chance to explore the garden-inspired venue. A DJ spinning summer-ready tunes offered the perfect backdrop to the leafy setting. As guests made their way to the garden’s glasshouse, they quickly discovered a grazing table of epic proportions – filled with fresh fruits, cheese, charcuterie, dips, sweet tarts and more. Created by the talented Parterre team, these delights made the perfect accompaniment to the Days of Rosé wine.
Accompanying the grazing table was also a range of gourmet canapés. Think cured trout on charcoal bread, fried zucchini flowers, succulent meatballs in a pomegranate jus and more.
Nothing screams summer like wine and seafood, so naturally, the event offered also decadent oyster bar, filled with freshly shucked rock oysters on ice.
As 2pm crept into the late afternoon, glasses were clinked as old friends caught up and new friendships were formed at the cocktail party.
Rounding off a fun afternoon was custom-made Days of Rosé gelato. It came in two refreshing flavours, including raspberry and rosé and rosé gelato. Topped with edible flowers, not only did the gelato look beautiful, it tasted great to match. With the event wrapping up at 5pm, guests left in good spirits after an afternoon of great food, delicious wine and plenty of sunshine.
Our afternoon at Café Parterre was so much fun, made all the better by the hospitable and highly talented crew at Café Parterre.
