Our first Melbourne event for 2020 was a lavish long Italian lunch where our foodies indulged in an afternoon of Italian classics, free-flowing wines and of course good company.

At 12:30 pm our guests received a text message revealing the secret location for the event, the intimate Richmond restaurant, Oster.

Known for his love of local produce, owner Osvaldo and his team curated a menu to highlight classic Italian dishes with a modern spin using only seasonal Australian produce.

As our foodies entered the elegantly designed, open plan dining room they were greeted with salumi and spritz; the perfect start to an afternoon feast. The spritz was crafted using Australian-based Autonomy Distillers‘ Native Australian Amaro for a local touch.

It was now time for everyone to move to their seats and start the much anticipated three-course feast. Starting with Veal Girello in Tonnata Sauce, a favourite Northern Italian summer dish that was paired with The Natural Wine Co‘s Organic 2019 Sauvignon Blanc.

Next up, our foodies indulged in house-made pumpkin ravioli with local Shaw River Annie Baxter reserve cheese sauce. To complement this course, the dish was paired with another Australian wine, this time Unico Zelo’s 2018 “Pipe Dream” Nero d’Avola.

As the lunch came to an end, the third and final dish was the Italian classic, Tiramisu. Talk about the perfect way to finish off a delicious long Italian lunch!
