We headed back to Melbourne with a bang, spending the afternoon exploring the bold and fun flavours of Mexican cuisine.

After almost a year away we were dying to get back to hosting events in Melbourne and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than with a Mexican Fiesta at one of our favourite modern Mexican eateries.

At 10:30 am our foodies received a text message revealing the location of the event as the newly opened, Mejico Melbourne. Mejico Sydney is one of our favourite venues so we were so excited to introduce our Melbourne foodies to the incredible food and drinks the venue had to offer.

The number one rule for a Mexican Fiesta has to be Tequila, and Mejico had us covered hosting the event in their private Tequila bar which boats over 250 rare tequilas. As guests entered the tequila bar the Mejico bar team were busy whipping up classic margaritas, the perfect way to start the event.

Once seated our feast began with another Mexican classic, salsa and corn chips but with a Mejico twist. This roasted pineapple and habanero salsa was served alongside blue corn chips and sweet corn ribs with chilli, lime and queso fresco.

As guests were sipping on white wine sangria it was time for tacos and the Mejico team pulled out all the stops with Lamb Barbacoa tacos served with charred leeks, iceberg lettuce and salsa diabla.

Throughout the fiesta our good friends at Riot Wine Co spoiled us with free flowing carafes of their Pinot Noir which went down a treat, especially alongside our mains of Pasilla Chilli spiced roasted chicken, a watermelon mint and habanero salad and patatas bravas with chipotle mayo.

Finishing off our guests’ bold and fun exploration into modern Mexican cuisine was dessert which was no other than freshly made Churros and dulce de leche. A sweet way to finish off an event filled with good food, great drinks and even better company.
