We took a trip to the Mediterranean coast!

This month, we went to Sofia–which is above Bar Cleveland. It is newly renovated in a heritage building showcasing all of its finest features–from the exposed brick to the rafters in the ceiling, it’s got a very homely atmosphere. The food focus is inspired by Southern Mediterranean cuisine. Sofia uses its own extra virgin olive oil, which is imported from their olive groves in Mani, Greece.

Guests arrived and enjoyed a Malfy Rosa Gin Spritz in the lounge before dinner.

Warm sourdough bread, chargrilled eggplant salad and Sofia’s olive oil awaited guests as they sat down and mingled amongst each other.

It was a shared style feast! The two entrees began to arrive: King Bay prawns with garlic and chili; grilled octopus with charred chorizo and romesco. This was paired with Rolf Binder 2021 Riesling from the Barossa.

For the mains, guests enjoyed lamb ribs, grilled wagyu flat iron, horta and parmesan truffle fries. There were two choices of wine: Rolf Binder 2020 Montepulciano and Rolf Binder 2018 Heinrich Shiraz Mataro Grenache.

A sweet treat to finish off the night included a walnut syrup cake with mascarpone and a 10 year old Grant Burge Muscat.
