Guests took a colourful journey through the flavours and aromas of modern Turkish cuisine at this award-winning Enmore venue.

Our second event for 2020 invited adventurous diners to the heart of the Inner West for a lavish evening of social dining. Once the secret text message arrived 2 hours before the event, guests began to flock to Stanbuli, the upscale Turkish restaurant on Enmore Road. After stepping through the venue’s restored 1950s hair salon facade, diners were greeted with a Tanqueray Gin & Soda on arrival before heading upstairs for an evening of flowing wine, endless mezze and family-style hospitality.

Once diners found their seats, the feast of delicious authentic Turkish dishes began. Guests were treated to share-style plates of Ekmek (House Bread with Smoked Butter & Turkish Cypriot Olives), Hamsi (Hand Filleted Marinated Anchovies) and Kavun Peynir (Rockmelon with Sheep’s Milk Feta). The dining experience continued with flavourful plates of Midye Dolma (Stuffed Mussels filled with Rice and Pinenuts), Patlican (Crushed Smoky Eggplant Salad) and even Patates (Dutch cream Potatoes in Vinaigrette).

The feast continued with Kizartma (Fried Eggplant, Zucchini and Peppers), Karnabahar (Charred Cauliflower in Tomato), Kisir (Raw Kingfish “Turkish Tabouli”), and so much more. Plus, plates of charcoal wood-grilled lamb, wood-fired chicken and tuna for mains. As you can see, no one left this dining experience hungry!

To finish the evening on a sweet note, the Stanbuli team treated guests to traditional Turkish desserts of Kabak Tatli (Tahini Parfait, Vanilla Cream and Candied Pumpkin) and Lokma (Turkish Doughnuts in Lemon Syrup and Lemon Sorbet).

To accompany this abundant feast, diners were treated to flowing wines such as Colombo Single Vineyard’s Pinot Noir Rosé, Bodega’s 1904 Sauvignon Blanc and Payton & Jones’ Shiraz. With endless plates passed around the table, delicious wine and great company, our guests certainly experienced the best of Turkish culture at this memorable evening.
